Vlieland

Luísa, Vlieland island, Friesland
+5
Vlieland is one of the smallest islands of the west frisian archipel, situated between the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. You can reach it by ferry and, except for the inhabitants, nobody is allowed to take a car. The natural landscape consists of sand dunes, meadows, ponds and wooded areas with trees difficult to find in the continental Netherlands, for example, pine trees! The land is an important bird breeding ground. Once there you are pleasantly invaded by this solid peace and quiet present in every place of the island. The misty air, the lighthouse, the maritime atmosphere, the silence, the birds flying, the meditating horses, the slow waves all make it a very special place near by. It's very refreshing to cycle around or to wander through. A place where the main event of the day is the arrival of the ferry. A true retreat!

Together with the dark weather it seems as if you were the only human being on this island!
