little story of a visit to the library

Once upon the time there was a library full of very old books written by people from all over the world who once invented things....

"To invent is to make decisions." (Cees Nooteboom)

Who was there in the library to watch over all those old dusty books? No one... So it was impossible not to get a closer look...

"Curiosity killed the cat!" (a british guy named Benjamin Jonson, apparently)

Suddently! one of those books turned out to look a bit... familiar...

Bulletin of Industrial Property, Portugal.... 1895!

1895 - Volleyball is invented
1895 - Screening of the first moving picture
1895 - Buster Keaton is born

....and 1895 - Carlos I rules as the second-to-last king of Portugal.

Let's take a peek inside the book....

...and flip the pages...

...and there is still so much to discover which once was new...

...and inventive.

delicious!
i have to go down there and investigate myself! so many relics, kept so unsafely... i will make sure to bring my camera, as well. also, seems like the perfect place for a short movie! we could manage the impossible - to make a movie about patent documentation look interesting! ;P
must also be a good place to get insane. what if our reading habits were only about exploring inventions? uouh, im already picturing the allegory of the cave by Plato. literature come back!
(sorry, must have been disturbed by another floor)
