some objects build their meaning in connection with others, making it difficult to think of them separately. if this floating ring was found on top of a wall in the middle of a desert what would you think?

I'd think desert is the biggest beach, like continents are big islands.

i would think of it as art!
I would consider it a symbol for lonelyness...
The lake has dried out - everyone left the region... leaving the ring behind!
I agree: signals are like pollution to the eyes. One looses objectivity and therefore they should be continuously destroyed out of their forced meaning - this is a statement :-)
